Advanced High Strength Steels

Description

Steelmakers have developed advanced high strength (AHSS) steels that are both stronger and more formable. These special steel chemistries let you use heating and cooling to vary the steel properties as you make parts from them. The higher strength lets you use thinner steel. Use advanced high strength steel coils when the parts require a very high strength that weighs less. Some grades provide enhanced hole expansion capabilities.

Why Use AHSS Steel Coil?

  • Recommended for: to make parts with more complex shapes that weigh less
  • Cost: High
